How do convertible bonds affect a DCF?
Answer
Two ways: (1) Interest expense — convertibles pay coupon interest (usually lower than straight bonds because of the conversion option). This flows through EBT and NI in a levered DCF; for an unlevered DCF, interest is irrelevant to operating cash flows.
